What is Drake’s Trail?

Regular recipients of this newsletter will now know the basics of the Drake’s Trail project, although with fresh interest being registered every week, it may be a bit early to dispense with a project overview…

The Drake’s Trail project will create and promote a network of walking and cycling routes in within West Devon, with an emphasis on the Yelverton area. The centrepiece of the trail will be the upgraded Sustrans route 27, part of the Devon coast-to-coast. WDBC will be adding value to route 27 by promoting more recreational routes with a Sir Francis Drake theme. All routes and trails are scheduled to be launched in March 2009. Funding for the project is provided by Devon Renaissance, West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council.
